Ennis, Montana: Insectary
Construction and Transplanting, 2004
The
Ennis insectary site is out at the schools bus garage North of
town. Knapweed is already present in the area. It is a very
rocky site so soil and sand was hauled in to make the insectary bed a
raised bed.
Digging trenches to transplant the knapweed into.
Transplanting the knapweed
Note the bag of knapweed plants behind Becky carrying plants for the
transplanters. The knapweed was pulled in Butte, MT by the WHE
crew and the Whitehall Forest Service fire crews. It was trimmed,
dipped in water, bagged and transported to Ennis. This was an
efficient way to pull thousands of knapweed plants for 2 Whitehall bed
replants and the Ennis bed start up.
All ages can "enjoy" transplanting! :^)
Transplanted and watered, flashing not yet up.
