Cultural Control: Grazing, Fertilizing, Watering

Grazing -
Did you now that cows and horses favor grasses while sheep and goats tend to prefer leafy forbs, including most species of invasive weeds?

If you have heard about live stock being used as a tool for killing weeds people are usually talking about sheep and/or goats that are able to graze the weeds.

There is also a bad side about horses and cattle eating weeds.  The livestock can be poisoned.  If poisoning does occur call your veterinarian.  The name of some of these deadly weeds are: poison hemlock, water hemlock, bracken fern, marsh arrow grass, horstail, poke weed, marsh marigold, tall buttercup, wild cherries black, lupine, Saint Johnswort, nightshade, jimsonweed, milkweed, cockle, laurel, tansy ragwart, spurge, white snake root, cocklebur, and sneeze weed.  Be careful if your livestock is grazing where these weeds occur.
