houndstongue (Cynoglossum officinale L.)

       Disclaimer
      Description of Plant:
Houndstongue is a biennial plant, which means it lives for a span of two years.  It grows one to two feet tall, and forms a rosette at the bottom.  It's leaves are rough and hairy, and shaped like a tongue.  It's seed pods are 1/3 inches across, and are covered in sticky barbs that enable them to stick things like animals and clothing.

Useful Herbicides: Tordon, Banvel, and Escort.
The active ingredient in Tordon is picloram.
The active ingredient in Banvel is decamp.
Escort's active ingredient is metsulfuron methyl.
The site of uptake for both of them is foliar.  All three of them are systematic.  Like Tordon and Banvel, Escort's site of uptake in the plant is foliar, but it also has soil as a site of uptake.
