Leafy Spurge With A Flea Beetle That Does Not Effect It.

These flea beetles do not effect leafy spurge, they are just resting on it as the plant is close to another plant that they are feeding on.  Photo taken along Jefferson River in Jefferson Co., MT.  These blueish beetles feed on trees and shrubs such as alder, cottonwood, etc..  Photo by Mike Battaiola and Todd Breitenfeldt. 2004.

Most of the defiliation seemed to be from hawk moths however, these nonspecific flea beetles were doing a small amount of feeding on the spurge.  Too bad they are generalists!  Photo by Mike Battaiola and Todd Breitenfeldt. 2004.
