Trimming knapweed plants for transplant
Cut off all the old dead stalks (to prevent seed spread, they are sharp and will puncture your plastic bags and cut you, and are ugly) and all living foliage except the leaves at the root crown. This keeps the plant from transpiring (loosing water) too much during and after the transplanting process. Photos by T. Breitenfeldt 6-02.
